Greater Atlanta Christian School / 2015-2022
I inherited a young Broadcast Journalism program that was tasked with creating a weekly 20-minute live news program for the high school. Students lacked fundamentals of video production and standards of excellence; shows were sloppy, content lacked depth, and students were learning little. No curriculum, lesson plans, or templates were provided.
Outside of class time, I was tasked with building a live production team for our home football games to operate new live-feed cameras for a video scoreboard.
I lead the broadcast class and the football live-production team — built both essentially from scratch over seven years, while simultaneously producing marketing content for the school.
Wrote new curriculum, lessons, assignments, and assessments for 6 distinct class preps.
Established a brand identity for our Broadcast program, set new standards and expectations, and built a program students competed to join.
Maintained a weekly live broadcast, managing students who wrote scripts, edited videos, operated production equipment, hosted live segments, and ran live streaming.
Built and led a separate team running music, live video switching with 3 cameras, and instant replay for home football games.
Planned events alongside regular coursework: week-long industry trip to film/broadcast sites, student film festival, and coordinated K-12 assemblies.
Planned, filmed, and edited marketing and athletics videos
Student projects won 13 GSPA All-State Broadcast Awards across two years.
Built a program and culture that developed highly skilled students who produced excellent work independently and on deadline, including multiple who went on to pursue careers in broadcasting or filmmaking.
